How to Play Tetris

Move and rotate each falling piece to make complete horizontal lines without gaps. Clears lower the stack; the run ends when a new piece cannot enter the board. Hold saves one piece for a later turn.

Controls

Use Left and Right to move a piece and Down to soft drop.
Use Up or W to rotate clockwise and Z to rotate counter-clockwise.
Press Space to hard drop, C to hold, and Escape to pause.

Scoring and Leaderboard

At level one, clearing one, two, three, or four lines scores 100, 300, 500, or 800 points. That value is multiplied by the current level. Consecutive four-line clears earn a 50% back-to-back bonus; a smaller line clear ends the streak. Every ten total lines advances the level and accelerates the fall timer.

You can play without an account. Score submission asks only for player initials.

Keep the surface flat

A low, even stack leaves more placements open for the next piece.

Protect one well

Leave a narrow vertical lane available when preparing a four-line clear.

How much is a four-line clear worth?: A four-line clear starts at 800 points multiplied by the current level. Each later four-line clear earns 50% more until a one-, two-, or three-line clear ends the back-to-back streak.
When does the level increase?: The level increases after every ten total cleared lines, and pieces then fall faster.
Can you hold a piece or hard drop?: Yes. Press C to hold the current piece and Space to place it immediately.
