How to Play Pac-Man
Eat every dot to clear the maze. Clearing pellets steadily releases more ghosts; an active ghost costs one of your three lives, while a power pellet makes ghosts vulnerable for six seconds on level one.
Controls
- Use the arrow keys or WASD to move through the maze.
- Use the on-screen directional controls and Pause button on mobile.
- Press Escape to pause a run. From the pause screen, choose Resume or press Escape to exit.
Scoring and Leaderboard
Dots are worth 10 points and power pellets 50. Ghosts eaten during one power-pellet window score 200, 400, 800, then 1,600 points. Each new level raises ghost speed by 8%, capped at 60% above level one.
You can play without an account. Score submission asks only for player initials.
Pac-Man Tips
Plan around intersections
Choose an escape route before entering a junction with a ghost nearby.
Save power pellets
Use a power pellet when several ghosts are close enough to turn its short window into multiple bonuses.
Read each ghost
The four ghosts do not follow identical paths, so watch their movement before committing to a corridor.
Pac-Man FAQ
- How many lives do you get?
- A run starts with three lives. Touching an active ghost costs a life; losing all three ends the run.
- How does ghost-combo scoring work?
- During one power pellet, consecutive ghosts are worth 200, 400, 800, and 1,600 points.
- Why do later Pac-Man levels feel harder?
- Ghosts leave the house sooner, speed rises by 8% per level up to a 60% increase, and the frightened window becomes shorter.
